Hello and welcome. My name is Haley and I would be thrilled to be your companion on the path to healing and growth. I am driven by a passion for integrating art therapy to support all, including those who feel isolated and overwhelmed by life's challenges. I want to help those who are seeking to navigate complex emotions, looking to explore their creativity, striving to heal from past traumas, or simply yearning for a safe and non-judgmental space to express their innermost thoughts and feelings. Together, we can embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and empowerment, fostering connections between the mind, body, and soul through the powerful language of art and art making.

Introduction

It's with sincere dedication that I offer myself as your guide on this journey towards healing and growth. With over a decade of experience, I bring the skills of a registered psychotherapist, certified counsellor, and registered art therapist to support you comprehensively.

From 2010 onward, I've been privileged to support and help individuals grappling with trauma, cancer treatment, and psychological hurdles across diverse locations — from Mongolia (Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and Unur Bul Orphanage), Botswana (Baylor Clinic and Stepping Stones International), and Edmonton (Cross Cancer Institute), to Squamish (Sea to Sky Community Services), St. John’s (Association for New Canadians), and Montreal (Maimonides Geriatric Residence, Jewish General Hospital in Child Psychiatry).

While my journey has taken me across borders, it's the opportunity to nurture others that remains my true honor. I've not only assisted those directly in need but also shared my insights with mental health practitioners and students globally, covering diverse areas such as creative arts counseling, crisis intervention, grief therapy, and family art therapy.

Education

  • Master's in Art Therapy from Concordia University (Montreal, QC)

  • Pursuing a Ph.D. in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University (St. John’s, NL)

Approach

I believe in an integrated approach, combining trauma-informed art therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, arts-based narrative exposure therapy, and grief and bereavement counselling, to provide you with tailored support that respects and honours your unique journey. I use strength-based, client-based, compassion-focused, and a humanistic approach that focuses on your your unique needs, background, experiences, and goals.

Professional Milestones

  • Former President of the Canadian Art Therapy Association

  • Editorial leadership of the Canadian Journal of Art Therapy

  • Initiator of impactful programs, including a peer support narrative exposure therapy initiative for the Association for New Canadians in Newfoundland and Labrador and policy advisor at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in Mongolia for crisis intervention related to domestic violence

Personal Mission

My ongoing Ph.D. research unites art therapy and arts-based inquiry, with a focus on supporting newcomer women to Canada.
